Are Wealthy People More Intelligent? What About Fat People?
It’s been a busy week, and still getting busier. My planned posts just ain’t happening. So today, you get a guessing game…
Are either of my two prejudices about intelligence supported by science?
Are overweight people more or less intelligent than others?
Are wealthy people more or less intelligent than those less well off?
(I’m not claiming my prejudices are good things. They aren’t. In fact, I’m rewiring them as we speak. But the reality and stats I discovered along the way are interesting, and since I’m busy, I thought it would be fun to get your thoughts on it. And no cheating by researching with Google!)

These are not my beliefs but guessing I would say wealthy people are not more intelligent. Overweight people are as intelligent as others.
There sure are a lot of other factors to include in these thoughts. Wealthy people might not be wealthy because of their smarts. They might have married into money. Well umm that is pretty smart too. ha ha
Overweight people have smarts like thin people, they might not know it. Low/no self confidence is a huge part of why they seem less knowledgeable.

You were right about the wealth, even if i did word this question wrong. Being intelligent is not an indicator of wealth.. in fact, intelligence seems to put people at greater risk for financial problems. And I’m laughing about the “smarts” of marrying into money. (I didn’t. duh. )
You make a good point about self-confidence issues making someone seem less intelligent, and maybe even keeping them from reaching their potential..
The study I found did show a drop in mental function in those who were significantly overweight — I still wonder if some of it might have had to do with low levels of depression. Maybe not clinical levels, but just enough to change their neuro-chemistry (or whatever it is. I really shouldn’t use words when I’m not totally clear on their meaning
)
